Model Trains

Life on a small scale

My love of trains has been with me from a very early age, my first recollection of seeing one was at my auntie’s house. I currently own 7 different engines all 00 gauge; they range from live steam locomotives to modern diesel electric. I am currently looking to purchase more carriages for my class 43 intercity 125 (Pictured Above) to give it the correct number of carriages (2 first class, 1 buffet car, 6 standard class carriages and a guardsman’s carriage). When this is complete the model train will be over 6 foot long.

Normally, model train enthusiasts will pick an era and design there layout around that (only steam engines on a 1950’s era set) but I have decided to aim for mid 90’s but with a mix of any other engines I enjoy, hence why I have a live steam train. The live steam train generates smoke while running to give it the appearance of actually running on steam.

While I strive for accuracy with this particular train I am having a less serious time with some of my other engines, one of the diesel electric fright engines I have decided to make it pull as much rolling stock as It can and it now has over 50 rolling stock it can pull with no sign of it struggling under this load so I am always on the lookout for more rolling stock so I can increase this number. I am hoping to beat the length of the intercity 125 at 6 feet.
